Today's reading — Psalm 112:1-10▾
A person who fears God will always enjoy assistance from heaven. When I talk about enjoying assistance from heaven, it includes receiving help from beings who live in heaven, specifically the angels.
Today’s memory verse tells us that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them. You can be certain of angelic interventions and rescues when you fear the Lord. Today’s Bible reading refers to someone who fears the Lord as a blessed person. When you fear the Lord and delight greatly in His commandments, you will be blessed, and you can expect angels to intervene in your affairs.
In 1 Kings 19:4-8, when Elijah was so discouraged that he felt like dying, God sent an angel to him twice to strengthen him with food. Before this incident, he had confronted the prophets of Baal, burnt their altars, and killed them. He had purged the land of idolatry because he feared the Lord (1 Kings 18:1-40). In Daniel 6:19-22, an angel came and shut the mouths of lions so that they would not harm Daniel because he chose to obey God’s commandments (Daniel 6:4-10). In 2 Kings 19:32-37, a single angel from the Lord fought against Sennacherib and destroyed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night. This was because King Hezekiah was a blessed man who feared the Lord (2 Kings 19:14-19). In Matthew 2:13-15, an angel warned Joseph in a dream that Herod was seeking to kill Jesus. In Acts 12:5-11, an angel came to set Peter free from prison the night before he was to be killed. Every one of these people experienced angelic interventions because they feared God.
A lady once shared her experience during a flight when the aircraft encountered turbulence, and it appeared as if it was going to crash. As she cried out to God for help, she looked out of the window and saw an angel smiling at her as he carried the plane in the palm of his hand. Immediately, she stopped being anxious and became assured that there was nothing to worry about. I prophesy to you that God will send His angel to rescue you in turbulent times, in Jesus’ name.
Beloved, when you fear the Lord and obey His commandments at all times, you can rest assured that the hosts of angels in heaven will come to your aid in times of need.
