Today's reading — Luke 2:25-38▾
(25) And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. (26) And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. (27) And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, (28) Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, (29) Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: (30) For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, (31) Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; (32) A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. (33) And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. (34) And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (35) (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. (36) And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; (37) And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. (38) And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

There was once a woman who was waiting on God for the fruit of the womb. After waiting for a while, she felt that God was taking too long, so she decided to consult a prophet who turned out to be fake. After consulting the false prophet, she stayed away from the church for six months, then she returned with a protruding belly, looking as if she were pregnant. We all rejoiced with her and asked her where she had been. She told us that our prayers were taking too long to be answered, so she went to see a prophet. Seven years later, she was still looking pregnant and hadn’t delivered the baby. We had to cry to God to have mercy on her. 

Anyone who cannot wait on God cannot receive His anointing. Only those who choose to stay with the Lord, come rain or shine, will receive the miracles that His anointing births. Holy things are not for dogs (Matthew 7:6), so a person who is living in sin cannot receive God’s anointing. Such a person may, however, receive counterfeit anointing from the devil, but it would definitely have sorrow added to it. It is only the blessing of God that does not have sorrow added to it (Proverbs 10:22).

Today’s Bible reading tells us about Simeon and Anna, who received the miracle they had been expecting. Simeon had been waiting for the Messiah, and eventually, because he did not stop walking with God, he received his miracle. No matter how long your miracle has been delayed, it will surely come if you continue walking with God. Anna had also been waiting patiently for the Messiah since her youth. On that special day, both of them eventually saw the Messiah they had been waiting for. I pray that your long-awaited miracle will come to you speedily, in Jesus’ name.

Impatience is one of the things that can make people miss miracles. When people who have been waiting on God for something suddenly feel that God is too slow, they are opening the door to the devil to take them out of the place of their miracle. Thus, whenever you start getting impatient, ask God to fill your heart with more grace to wait for Him. Today’s memory verse tells us the two crucial ingredients that people who receive promises from God have: faith and patience. Beloved, if all you have is faith, add patience to it so that you will not miss your miracle.
